I picked up Planetoid Pioneers the "Contributor Edition" the other day. I had been watching this game for sometime in early access, and thought it was a very interesting idea and could be really fun if the community get behind it. They had a special offer around the lunch day which made it half price for the Contributor Edition, so I went for that.
So far I like it, not had time to make anything or even leave the first planetoid, but I don't mind which I guess that's a good sign.
A few screen grabs from my first couple of hours play. So far, so fun...
This is some amazing work here. Pc gamer Hin Nya has built Aliens the ride in Planet Coaster that Cameron himself would be proud of.
More than 70000 objects and 2 month to set up, but I think we would all say it was worth it.
Sit back and enjoy this journey that takes you through some of the locations from the 1986 sci-fi classic Aliens.
Welcome, and thanks for taking time out of your day to read this….
As a married dad of two boys and one dog, I have no time at all spare to game. You see, the thing is, I love my gaming. Since the first time I played Pong on the Atari in the late 70’s to getting mad with Jet Set Willy on our ZX Spectrum 48k (still have that somewhere), then moving onto an Atari ST great games on those 3.5inch discs, loved Hero's, Gauntlet and Speedball by the The Bitmap Brothers. (again, have it boxed up somewhere in the loft). Then moving onto a NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Atari Jaguar, Playstation, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360 and at the moment a half decent gaming Pc. That doesn't include several Gameboy versions, Android phones and tablets. Yes I like my games...... but as I say, no time. Anyway thought I would, when I do find those magical spare moments to play games, I would also post something here. It will be either be me just playing, I might do some "lets play" as a running blog post, also news and videos if I can.... I have also made an instagram account for quick screen grab and photo posts if your on there.
I picked up Star Control Origins about two months ago while still in very early access and at a very low price (£17). I believe I played the original all those years ago on a friends pc. At the time it really wasn't for me as a game, but as I have gotten older it's right on point. I just love games you can invest time in, and come back again and again.
So far in this early access, there isn't much to it. They have only released the Star Control: Origins & Fleet Battles Mode, which in a short description is you can build a ship and take on AI or other players online. The fun part for me is making your own ship. They use almost the same system as Galactic Civilizations III ( well it is Stardock ) for this. You select parts from a list and they snap together on anchor points, you can then make them larger or smaller, rotate and flip. You can also change the main and secondary colours of your ship. Then you add first and second weapons, thrusters and engines all to a points system that allows you to play your ship in battles. It's nice and smooth and they have promised more ship parts as the beta goes on.
Check out my first ship "ICE" which isn't doing to bad in the battles I have played. Though at the moment the building side of this is the fun part for me. Looking forward to the rest of the game when it's released.
Here is the game trailer with what is yet to come.
